Leaders in the Russian Revolution

Vladmir Lenin (1870-1924)

Vladmir Lenin was a very important revolutionary. He was the Leader of the Bolshevik party (a political party with communist views). He organised the October revolution which took place on November 7- 8 1917. Once the Czar was overthrown, Lenin was the first official leader of Russia.

Karl Marx (1818-1883)

Karl Marx was not directly involved in the revolution but had a huge influence on it nonetheless. He wrote the Communist Manifesto which was the basis of the Bolshevik's ideas.

Leon Trotsky (1879-1940)

Leon Trotsky was the second man in charge of the Bolshevik party and especially helped organising and planing to overthrow the Czar. Trotsky was supposed to be the second man in charge of Russia after the revolution but his life was cut short before that could happen. The dictator that wanted control of Russia named Joseph Stalin orderd some of his men to hunt Trotsky down.
